l CSIG announced the winners of 2019 Shi Qingyun Award for Women Scientists on December 23. CCF-CV member, Assoc. Prof. Si Liu from Beihang University, received the award (youth group).

l The winners of 2019 CCF Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award were announced on December 23. PhD student, Wenqi Ren, received the award for his doctoral dissertation "Image and Video Deblurring via Structural Prior" (supervisor: Dr. Xiaochun Cao, Institute of Information Engineering, CAS).

l On December 11, ACM released its 2019 fellow list. 58 scientists were honored for their wide-ranging and fundamental contributions in areas including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, combating cybercrime, quantum computing and wireless networking. Dr. Xilin Chen, CCF-CV member, researcher of Institute of Computing Technology, CAS, was recognized for his outstanding accomplishment in face and sign language recognition and multimedia systems.

l On December 9, the winners of 2019 CSIG Science and Technology Award were announced. CCF-CV members, Prof. Liang Lin and Assoc. Prof. Guanbin Li from Sun Yat-sen University, Prof. Yao Zhao from Beijing Jiaotong University and Dr. Mingming Cheng from Nankai University won first prize. CCF-CV members, Prof. Bo Yan from Fudan University and Dr. Xiaoyu Zhang, associate researcher of Institute of Information Engineering, CAS, won second prize.

l The winners of 2019 CAA Popular Science Award were announced on December 3. CCF-CV member, Prof. Junping Zhang from Fudan University, received the award for his book, Errors Favor Intelligent Beings.

l On December 3, the paper titled "Local Convex Representation with Pruning Local for Manifold Clustering" won the Best Student Paper Award at IEEE VCIP 2019. The award-winning paper was directed by CCF-CV member, Assoc. Prof. Chunguang Li at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

l On December 2, CSIG released its first fellow list. CCF-CV members, Dr. Tieniu Tan (CAS Academician) and Prof. Jianhuang Lai (Sun Yat-sen University) were selected.

l On November 27, IEEE released its 2020 list of newly elevated fellows. CCF-CV member, Prof. Yunhong Wang from Beihang University, was elevated for her contributions to iris and face recognition.

l The 2019 PRCV Award Ceremony was held on November 10. The Best Paper Award was presented to "An Effective Network with ConvLSTM for Low-Light Image Enhancement" (supervisor: Prof. Hua Huang, Beijing Institute of Technology). The Best Paper Award Finalist went to "Deep Eyes: Binocular Depth-from-Focus on Focal Stack Pairs" (supervisor: Prof. Jingyi Yu, ShanghaiTech University. The Best Student Paper Award was given to "A Temporal Attentive Approach for Video-Based Pedestrian Attribute Recognition" (supervisor: Prof. Yunhong Wang, Beihang University). The paper "Deep Voice-Visual Cross-Modal Retrieval with Deep Feature Similarity Learning" (supervisor: Dr. Xiaoqiang Lu, Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, CAS) was selected as the Best Student Paper Award Finalist. The Best Presentation Award went to "Visual Odometry with Deep Bidirectional Recurrent Neural Networks" (supervisor: Prof. Hongbin Zha, Peking University). The paper "Knowledge-based Collaborative Deep Learning for Benign-Malignant Lung Nodule Classification on Chest CT" (supervisor: Prof. Yong Xia, Northwestern Polytechnical University) received the Best PhD Forum Poster Award.

l The 2019 general election of CCF-CV was held in Xi'an on November 9. Prof. Hongbin Zha from Peking University was elected Director of CCF-CV, Prof. Qingshan Liu from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Dr. Liang Wang, researcher of Institute of Automation, CAS, and Prof. Jingyi Yu from ShanghaiTech University were elected Deputy Directors of CCF-CV and Assoc. Prof. Zhanyu Ma from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications was elected Secretary-General of CCF-CV.

l The 2019 working conference of CCF-CV was held in Xi'an on November 9. Dr. Xilin Chen, Deputy Director of CCF-CV, researcher of Institute of Computing Technology, CAS, was honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award. Three CCF-CV members, Dr. Ruiping Wang, researcher of Institute of Computing Technology, CAS, Assoc. Prof. Wei Wei from Northwestern Polytechnical University and Assoc. Prof. Jufeng Yang from Nankai University, received Seeta Contribution Award.

l On October 31, Beijing Municipal Commission of Science and Technology released the list of Leading Talents in Science and Technology, and the scientists selected for the Technology Rising Stars Program, including 5 CCF-CV members: Assoc. Prof. Zhanyu Ma from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications received sponsorship for cross-disciplinary projects; Dr. Meinan Kan, associate researcher of Institute of Computing Technology, CAS, Assoc. Prof. Zhouhui Lian from Peking University, Assoc. Prof. Xianglong Liu from Beihang University, and Dr. Junge Zhang, assistant researcher of Institute of Automation, CAS, were selected for Beijing Technology Rising Stars Program.

l On October 29, the paper titled "Larger Norm More Transferable: An Adaptive Feature Norm Approach for Unsupervised Domain Adaptation" was selected as the Best Paper Award Finalist at ICCV 2019. The award-winning paper was co-directed by CCF-CV members, Prof. Liang Lin and Assoc. Prof. Guanbin Li from Sun Yat-sen University.

l The winners of the 2019 CCF-CV “Seeta New Academic Talent Award” were announced on October 29. Mr. Yongming Rao, PhD student of CCF-CV member, Assoc. Prof. Jiwen Lu from Tsinghua University, received the award.

l On October 28, the team, directed by CCF-CV member, Prof. Huchuan Lu from Dalian University of Technology, won first place in VOT 2019 Long Term Challenge.

l On October 28, the team, co-directed by CCF-CV member, Prof. Xiang Bai from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Baidu, won first place in VOT 2019 Short Term Challenge.

l On October 27, the team, directed by CCF-CV member, Prof. Zhouchen Lin from Peking University, won the Innovation Award in COCO Challenge 2019 - Panoptic Segmentation Task.

l On October 24, the team, directed by CCF-CV member, Assoc. Prof. Tongwei Ren from Nanjing University, won first place in MM'19 VRU Challenge-Task 3: Visual Relation Detection, and second place in CVRP Challenge-Track 2: Movies.

l On October 23, CCF released the second list of its 2019 newly elevated distinguished members. 47 CCF members were elevated for their remarkable contribution to CCF, including four CCF-CV members: Prof. Junyu Dong from Ocean University of China, Prof. Jianguo Hu from Guangzhou Smart Urban Development Institute, Assoc. Prof. Li Liu from National University of Defense Technology, and Prof. Jingyi Yu from ShanghaiTech University.

l The winners of 2019 CCF Science and Technology Award were announced on September 29. CCF-CV member, Prof. Huchuan Lu from Dalian University of Technology, received CCF Natural Science Award (second class) for his project on visual object tracking algorithm.

l The National Natural Science Foundation of China released the 2019 list of Projects Supported by the Foundation for Innovative Research Groups on August 16. The project led by CCF-CV member, Prof. Changyin Sun from Southeast University was awarded.

l On July 11, the team, directed by CCF-CV member, Assoc. Prof. Tongwei Ren from Nanjing University, won second place in the Short Video Understanding Challenge at ICME 2019.

l On June 17, the winners of Long-Term Visual Localization Challenge of CVPR 2019 were announced. The team from the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition, led by Dr. Shuhan Shen, CCF-CV member, researcher of Institute of Automation, CAS, won the champion.

l On June 17, the winners of Activities in Extended Video Prize Challenge of CVPR 2019 were announced. The team from BUPT multimedia communication and pattern recognition lab, led by CCF-CV member, Prof. Fei Su from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, won the champion.

l The winners of NTIRE 2019 Challenges were announced on June 16. The team, directed by CCF-CV member, Prof. Yanyun Qu from Xiamen University, won 2 Runner-Up Awards.

l On June 6, Dr. Zhen Lei, CCF-CV member, researcher of the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition, Institute of Automation, CAS, was honored with “IAPR Young Biometrics Investigator Award” at the 12^th IAPR International Conference on Biometrics.

l Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology announced the winners of the 15^th Ding Ying Technology Award on May 23. Deputy Director of CCF-CV, Prof. Jianhuang Lai from Sun Yat-sen University received the award.

l The 2019 Vision and Learning Seminar (VALSE) was held in Hefei on April 11-14. The 2018 VALSE Outstanding Student Paper Awards were presented to "Deep Mutual Learning" and "Boosting Adversarial Attacks with Momentum", directed by CCF-CV members, Prof. Huchuan Lu from Dalian University of Technology and Dr. Hang Su from Tsinghua University, respectively. Four papers, "Person Re-Identification by Camera Correlation Aware Feature Augmentation" (supervisors: Prof. Weishi Zheng & Prof. Jianhuang Lai, Sun Yat-sen University), "TextBoxes++: A Single-Shot Oriented Scene Text Detector" (supervisor: Prof. Xiang Bai, Huazhong University of Science and Technology), "Kronecker-Basis-Representation Based Tensor Sparsity and Its Applications to Tensor Recovery" (supervisor: Prof. Deyu Meng, Xi'an Jiaotong University), and "Single-Shot Refinement Neural Network for Object Detection" (supervisor: Dr. Zhen Lei, researcher of Institute of Automation, CAS), were selected as the 2018 VALSE Outstanding Student Paper Award Finalists.

l On March 6, the paper “Shifting More Attention to Video Salient Object Detection”, co-authored by two CCF-CV members, Prof. Mingming Cheng (Nankai University) and Prof. Jianbing Shen (Beijing Institute of Technology), was accepted by CVPR 2019 as Oral Paper.

l The 2018 Beijing Science and Technology Award Conference was held on March 1. CCF-CV members, Dr. Liang Wang, researcher of Institute of Automation, CAS, Dr. Yongzhen Huang, founder and CEO of Watrix AI, and Dr. Tieniu Tan, CAS Academician, won second prize for their research on gait recognition system.

l The leadership election of CCF Guangzhou Branch was held on February 16. CCF-CV member, Prof. Yong Xu from South China University of Technology was elected chairman, and Assoc. Prof. Changdong Wang from Sun Yat-sen University was elected vice chairman.

l On January 27, 2019, the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) released its list of outstanding members. CCF-CV member, Prof. Xiang Bai from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, was honored with the Outstanding Senior Program Committee Member Award.

l On January 19, CCF-CV received the 2018 CCF Annual Special Award.

l The 2018 State Science and Technology Awards Presentation Ceremony was held in Beijing on January 8. Three CCF-CV members, Assoc. Prof. Jianjiang Feng from Tsinghua University, Dr. Zhenhua Guo, associate researcher of Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University, and Prof. Wenming Zheng from Southeast University, received the Second Class Prize of 2018 State Technological Invention Award.
