Over the past decade there has been a growing interest in the area of video analytics and in the related applications. However, while progress has been made in the areas of video data acquisition, archiving, indexing, retrieval and manipulation, significant efforts remain to be made by both academia and IT industry in order to realize the emerging next-generation video analytic systems that meet the challenges posed by  videos from Youtube, TV, Sports, surveillance, etc.  In this context, it is desirable to develop advanced intelligent analysis systems that reliably detect individual and/or group activities and analyze their link to video events.

Recently, new interdisciplinary technologies that integrate computer vision, pattern recognition, and machine learning have been developed in order to address many challenges in individual and group activity analysis. This Call for Papers seeks for the state-of-the-art research on video/image based analytics, aiming to provide a forum for high impact papers from academia and industry, collect cutting-edge algorithms on individual and/or group activities in video events and address technological, group behavioral, entertainment, legal and cultural aspects in large scale video repository systems.

Example topics include but are not limited to

  • Activity analysis related algorithms: object detection and motion tracking; object identification and re-identification; action/activity/event/behavior recognition; fusion of vision with other sensing modalities
  • Video event systems and performance: research prototypes; hardware & software architectures; performance evaluation
  • Related video applications: video surveillance video retrieval multimedia event detection, video annotation/tagging/recognition, human-computer interfaces, entertainments, computer games.
