Embodied Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative paradigm, integrating perception, reasoning, and execution within virtual agents and physical robots. Unlike traditional AI, which relies on passive data processing, embodied systems actively engage with their surroundings and utilize tools to learn from and adapt to real-world requirements.This special issue explores the intersection of embodied AI with multimedia computing, communications, and applications. We aim to address the unique challenges that arise when intelligent agents must process, synthesize, and respond to multimodal information within complex, dynamic environments.
The rapid evolution of embodied AI has forged new frontiers in interactive agents, robotics, and autonomous systems. Despite this progress, critical hurdles persist, particularly in real-time multimodal perception, decision-making under uncertainty, and robust communication within dynamic environments. Furthermore, achieving seamless human-agent interaction remains a pivotal challenge. This special issue serves as a collaborative platform for academia and industry to explore state-of-the-art methodologies, emerging technologies, and the practical deployment of embodied AI within multimedia-rich contexts.
We seek high-quality papers that advance the field of embodied AI through novel algorithms, system architectures, datasets, and applications. The special issue emphasizes the role of multimedia technologies, in enabling intelligent agents and robots to perceive, understand, and interact with their surroundings effectively.

Submission Information
Prospective authors are invited to submit their manuscripts electronically through the ACM TOMM Manuscript Central Website. Please adhere to the ACM TOMM journal guidelines (see https://tomm.acm.org/authors.cfm). When submitting your paper, please select the special issue on "Multimodal Embodied AI" in the TOMM Manuscript Central Website. Manuscripts should not have been published or currently be under consideration for publication elsewhere. If the submission is an extended work of a previously published conference paper, please include the original work and a cover letter describing the changes that have been made. According to ACM TOMM publication policy, previously published conference papers can be eligible for publication provided that at least 25% new material is included in the journal version. All submissions will be evaluated based on originality, technical quality, clarity, and relevance to the special issue.
